Making sure I get to the French sector

Question:
Coming into Geneva Switzerland from Glagow. Have booked a car in the French sector. Can I go into France at airport without actually arriving in Switzerland? Hope you can help?
Thanks

Answer:
You have two choices; you can exit into Switzerland, get your bags and then cross over to the French sector near the British Airways check-in desks. The British Airways check-in desks are up stairs from arrivals.
I suggest you do this if possible. That is if you don’t have a visa issue. Otherwise you need to bypass Swiss passport control and exit into France. I’ve never done this but you will have to tell airport staff to get your bags. To me this is a hassle and it’s better to just exit into Switzerland. The official airport web site has info for exiting into France, look under ‘Arrivals’. Jeff
